Holiday Cheer 2009

Nothing makes me happier then Christmas Time!! I love the lights, the food, the traditions, the gifts, the music....I LOVE it all!! My house is all decorated, from top to bottom in white lights, silver sparkly decorations, greenery, two trees (its true) and special hand me downs from my mom and grandmas. I take a look around my house and I cant help but be a little overwhelmed with emotions. My life is good and I am so thankful everyday for our families, friends and the things we have. I have a beautiful house, wonderful puppies, the most amazing and wonderful family and in-laws I could ever wish for and good health of my loved ones. This is a time of family and love and I am so happy to have so many wonderful people in my life I love and who love me. It has been a wonderful year, there are always sad times, hard time to get through but we survive and it is always exciting to see what the future holds. I pray it is a wonderful year to come for all those I love, care about and for Carver and I. Carver and I had pictures taken with our beloved Basset Hound Frisbee and Black Lab Carlee for our Christmas Pictures. My little family is perfect and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. Happy Holidays to all my friends!!

Time Needs To Slow Down...

Wow it has been another 6 months or so since my last blog!! I really really need to get better at this! I guess time has just gotten away from me again. I truly have been very busy! Lots has been happening in the Ostmeyer world. For starters, after I ran my 5K I took time off from working and decided I wanted to make some changes. I decided I wanted to go back to school...Esthetician School!! Carver and I did research on some of the best schools in Wichita and only one had my heart right away. Eric Fisher Academy. So from the end of April I started and I just graduated the end of September!! I graduated with many special Honors in which I am soooo proud of! It was the best and most amazing thing I have ever done in my life. Don't get me wrong, going to college and getting that four year degree is something I am very proud of as well but my growing love and passion for skin care has already made me love the industry! I have found my calling and what I want to do the rest of my life. I had the most amazing support from our famlies and our friends! Right before I graduated I found a job at a Salon/Spa called Salon Bella! I start next Tuesday and am absolutely ready to start this new journey in my life and I cant wait to see where it takes me and what the future holds! So that has really been the main thing going on in my life right now. It took up a lot of my time, studying and what not so maybe now I will have more time to be on here :-) A little fun is always had by us of course...In July we went to VEGAS for 7 days to celebrate our 5 Year Wedding Anniversary!! It was incredible!! We had so much fun and are ready to head back! Carver is working harder and harder everyday with getting another store open so that keeps him busy. We are about three weeks away from Opening Weekend and he lets me know it every day!! I love to go hunting as well but he has it counted down to the seconds he gets to get out there in the open fields and shoot. Also it is that time of year where we are planning our KU Basketball trips to Lawrence and the games we are going to! My favorite time of the year :-) Other than that life is WONDERFUL!!!

Crazy Life....

Wow, again it has been a few since I have been on here...time seems to get away from me much more than it used too. Things in our lives have been super busy and super CRAZY to say the least! Not really wanting to get into the details, however I did finish my first 5K!!! It was the most challenging and rewarding completion (besides graduating college) I have ever done! It was amazing and I can't wait to do more!! I was lucky to get to compete with two good friends of mine, my Carver and family was there waiting for me to cross the finish line and the support I received from family and friends was overwhelming. The day we ran it was rainy, cloudy and cold! By the end of the race I was peeling layers off and the sun was shining! The following week Kansas had its first Blizzard of the year and Wichita got 4inches of snow...thats Kansas for you! Anyways, i think I am going to end there. Here are a few pics from the race :-)

Training For My First 5k!!

It is no secret that I love sports, working out, weights, elliptical, treadmill, golf, kickboxing, volleyball, basketball, step classes whatever it is I love to be in shape and doing things for my body!! Running is a huge passion of mine and I am excited to have finally gained courage enough to do my first 5k!! Starting small...lol I have been training and working really hard on this achievement and can't wait to share the experience with a good friend of mine! Carver has been so supportive and knowing he will be there to cheer me on, give me water and maybe catch me as I cross the finish line is what is keeping me going! He supports everything I do from my modeling to this! He is incredible!! I am really excited and I know I am going to want to do more and more and more!! Am I going to feel Ike that day when I ran track...the nerves before the gun goes off and then the joy of having finished and finishing good?!? I am not gonna lie... I have those nerves...I was Diagnosed with Celiac Disease one year ago in February and that has been the hardest thing to understand and deal with. Although I feel like a completely better person it has been a struggle for me to find the right foods to fuel myself because I do workout so much. And the crabs that help fuel most runners I can not have. Since being diagnosed and being gluten free my fatigue has been worse and I have had to work harder to over come that and become stronger. AND I HAVE!! For me personally and me only this is something I am so proud of! I will not come close to winning that race in a few weeks, but in my heart, mind and with God, family & friends there I will feel like I have won and I absolutely can not wait!! I'll let you know what happens on the 21st....

Hard For Me To Understand....

My parents, brother and husband are owners of Little Caesars pizza. They work extremely hard to make our business successful, profitable to our families and for our future. They love owning this business!! Who wouldn't love to own a pizza busines :-) Our stores are doing very well and that is great! What I am having a very hard time understanding is with the way our economy is right now, why our employess today don't appreciate what is done for them, what is given to them, what they have and why they think jobs are no big deal!!! Carver has fired 8 kids this last week!! For the dumbest reasons...my car wouldn't start, it's my moms birthday I need the day off, my children are sick, I forgot....whatever the reason they are give 3 excused absents and then after that they are let go! I think that is pretty reasonable and fair! I am a born and raised Western Kansas girl and I am so proud of that! I was taught at a very young age to work hard, be driven for what you want and make your selof sucessful! I have lived in Wichita for 4 years and though I love it here and love the city life, I am shocked when my husband comes home with a new story about how an employee called in and said they couldn't make it to work. I had my first job when I was 12 years old, a babysitter for two wonderful kids! Making money was a great feeling! I worked hard at it and today I am 28 and I love my job! My parents made my brother and I work! We wanted a job and we wanted to make our own money! They wanted it to teach us responibility and give us an understanding for how the "real world" works! In our hometown having a job and working was just what every high school kid did! Ya my homwtown was 1200 people and therre was not a lot to do but the community loved having the local kids work in their establishemts. We all worked, made money and spend out earnings how we wished! It was great! The kids that we hire are not making a lot of money, most of them are high school drop outs, some of them are the only ones in the famlies with a job and a way of income! I have seen my dad give more then a handful of kids money out of his own pocket to help them out!! Then they turn around and don't show up to work! And they still don't show up, give lame exscuses and use my parents, brother and husband! I was just sitting her at my desk here at work and I looked up ot the window, there was a frail man with a Dillions jacket on walking in our front office door. He had to have been at least 75 years old. The wind is blowing, he was carrying a vase of flowers and he was struggeling to open the door. I jumped up from my desk and ran to the door to help him. The flowers were for a lady next door and I told him I would talk them to her! "Oh thank you so much he said" I told him to have a great day and he went back out in to the cold, windy weather. This is where I started thinking.....here is this 75 year old man working for Dillions as a delivery driver who I am sure had his first job at a very young age...and is still working today! To me that is imspiring! And then I have to watch my family fire employess who could careless if they are fired or let fo from their job!! Its heart rinching, these employess have no drive or work ethic to hold a job and better themselves in the world!! When these employess dont't show up it makes my family work even hard, schedule interviews, and go in on their time! I know that is just part of Owning your own business and that in someway is ok to me...but what makes me so sad is knowing they don't care about anything!! From the day I was born both my parents had their own business! My dad a reatraunt/bar and my mom her own Beauty Shop. I was raised with my dad missing a dance recital, basketball/volleyball game or band concert because he had to be at the restraunt...But he ALWAYS made it up to me and NEVER missed the next one! Our economy is in a horrible state right now and a job is a job! These kids need to wake up and realize that life is hard, life is unfair but you better grow up and deal with it!

Fun Jayhawk Weekend....

As most of you know Carver and I are on the go all the time!! We love to travel, have fun where ever we are and be with our friends!! This last weekend was no exception!! We went to Lawrence to the KU game with one of my best friends since we were little! It was a great time and even though Carver and I travel to Lawrence A LOT for KU Football & Basketball games, going with friends is always a good time!! Spending time in Lawrence at Allen Field House is one of Carver and I's most favorite places to be together :-) We are going again this Saturday and it will be another special game...We are taking Carver's mom and little brother to their first KU game! I am super excited and love that we have the opportunity to take them. They will never forget it and I absolutely can not wait to see Kasen's little smiling face when we walk into the field house. I have made him into quit the little Jayhawk fan....and I love it!! Other than that is was a great weekend and I just feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends. They mean the world to me and spending time with friends and those you love should be a priority in every ones life!
